Our Philosophy
The name of our gallery, Artistic Spirit, celebrates this creativity and recognizes that in all of us there is an ability to communicate our thoughts, emotions and experiences. We as a society are fortunate that some people broke through the barriers of such comments as "Well, that doesn't look like a dog" and put pencil to paper, just as our ancestors first drew on a cave wall with their finger and some mud. We consider a variety of criteria when purchasing art for the gallery. Is the artist doing something unusual? Is there a message? Is the artist showing a compulsion to create? Finally, is this a piece that we would want in our home? If we wouldn't buy it for ourselves, we would never feel comfortable selling it to you.
While we will have some well-known names in our gallery, our objective is to provide exposure to emerging artists. You will probably not see some of these artists listed anywhere else but we believe strongly in what they are doing and that they will be important contributors to the genre. At the same time, we also feel that art should not be bought as an investment but for enjoyment. Buyers should purchase in the same spirit with which the art is created, just do it, enjoy it and don't worry about what your friends think.
